The annual Wyndham Winter Street Party is back for 2022!
The much-anticipated annual Winter Street Party is finally returning to Wyndham on Friday 24th June, and this year it’s expected to be more vibrant than ever, with activations spanning three enormous entertainment precincts.
Brought to the region by Wyndham Council and hosted by Mayor Peter Maynard, the event is free for the community and will run from 6 pm to 9 pm across the Werribee City Centre from Station Place, Watton Street and the West end, just 20 minutes from Verdant Hill.
“After a two-year hiatus due to COVID-19, we’re thrilled to see the Winter Street Party return to the city centre and to be able to celebrate together as a community once more,” Cr Maynard says.
A sensory delight, this year’s festival is an unmissable display of light and sound. Take a stroll through Electric Meadow, an interactive activation exhibiting cutting edge technology that responds to touch and sound. Journey through the neon light wonderland that will transform the streetscape into a work of art, and be dazzled by roving robots, aerial circus performers and the magical ‘Dream Bear’.
Local favourites will be serving up tasty delights all night long, including warming winter fare from nearby restaurants open late for the event, and pop-up stalls offering cosy hot chocolates and delicious wintery treats. “It’s also the perfect opportunity to explore Werribee’s buzzing dining scene,” Cr Mahfoud says, “with dine-in and grab and go dining options”.
With live music from Junkyard Beats and DJ Raas Masters, glow-in-the-dark fun for kids young and old, ice sculpting, crafts, activities and community stalls, this immersive community event is the perfect winter wonder.
“This mid-winter event brings thousands of people into our city centre and into local businesses to enjoy so many great dining options, special experiences and late-night trading,” Cr Maynard said.
